What’s a polaroid camera doing here, on a gadget site?

Thought they were long gone or old school?

Think again!

With this latest version, the Polaroid Two Digital Instant Camera, you get the best of both worlds, a compact 7 megapixel digital camera that will also print your photos out onto 2” x 3” sticky back photo paper. Great if you want to quickly share photos with friends or relatives.

The camera actually has a 5 megapixel sensor which uses interpolation to increase the image quality to about 7 megapixels, this quality is fine for all but the most professional snappers. It has a 4x digital zoom and rechargeable battery.

The camera records its images to a memory card so you can download them later to your pc as usual if you don’t want to print them straight away.

polaroid22Talking of printing, the polaroid two uses inbuilt pogo printer technology to produce a print in about 40 seconds. The heat activated zinc paper it uses is water and fade resistant, smudge proof and tear proof. You can use the 3” screen to decide which pictures to print and make a number of changes including removing red-eye, adding dates, borders and cropping.

polaroid3We think this newer compact version of the polaroid will become very popular because of its versatility, it’s great for parties, nights out, holidays and meetings. Use just like any digital compact camera but with the added advantage of small instant prints any time you want them.

The Polaroid Two is available now for $330 (£205).

Aiptek Pocket Projector v10- instant pocket cinema virtually anywhere

pocket projector

Do you ever get frustrated trying to see your photos, movies or video on your super small portable devices tiny screen?

Then the super portable Aiptek pocket projector v10 could be just what you need, you can even get a pocket cinema effect virtually anywhere as this tiny mobile phone size device can project an image up to 50 inches wide!

We must warn you now that this is not going to give you a full 50” HDTV cinema experience, there will nearly always be some compromise with a projector of this size, that said, if you accept it for what it is it can be really usefull and give you a much better viewing experience than trying to squint at a tiny screen.

It can be used with ipods, psp’s, memory cards, digital cameras, mobile phones etc and can project the images onto any reasonable surface such as a wall or even a portable screen, best results will be achieved if used in darker conditions.

sky lanterns

You might not think these Sky Lanterns are very gadgety but we do and we love em!

Having a BBQ or friends round for a party, these are something different and will make a great talking point, everyone loves to make a wish now and or you can even write a message on them.

Apparently they can rise up to 1500 metres and travel for miles depending on the conditions, they last approximately 20 minutes. They work by using a special type of wax fuel cell and flame retardant material, they are also biodegradable.

There are 10 in a pack so you can gather a few friends and let several drift off at the same time, then just chill out and watch as they float majestically up and away into the night sky.

Good for parties, concerts, camping, anywhere outdoors and in the dark, why not try Sky Lanterns for something completely different.
